Intern Description

We are looking for energetic and creative individuals with excellent communication and interpersonal skills to help develop and implement an outreach and awareness campaign for a new documentary, One in Eight: Janice's Journey, which tells the story of one young woman's fight against breast cancer and her search to find possible causes. Learn how to market and distribute an independent film!

Candidates should be available to work approximately 8 or more hours per week and have some flexibility in their schedule. Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • assisting with the development of a premiere screening/fundraiser including donor solicitation and tracking, marketing and event logistics;
  • publicity for film screenings and events, including writing press releases and preparing press mailings;
  • researching and creating connections with organizations interested in the issues raised by the documentary;
  • assisting with the grant process and soliciting donations for the outreach campaign; and
  • maintaining our database including updates and data entry.

Timeline & Reports

At the beginning of the internship, we will decide with the candidate on which parts of the program the person is most interested in working. From there, the intern will 'jump right in' to work side by side with us. A weekly timeline will be developed in line with the intern's interests and schedule.

We will work with college or university faculty to complete any reports or documentation requirements. The filmmaker is a graduate of the BU Film Program (MFA '95).

Payment & Fees

We currently have no moneys for internship honorariums, payments or fees. However, it is possible that a portion of grants raised by the project may be available to fund future work by the intern.
